They always felt tacked on. Especially the whole booby trapped uncle's home that Kevin somehow has access to.

This movie would have worked better without them in it. Just given Kevin some mission to 'save Christmas' and leave the wet bandits out of it.

Maybe he needs to rescue a stolen necklace that was to be auctioned off for the Children's hospital or something like that.
